The Power of Voice

In our business we know the power of the human voice and as part of our curiosity training we recommend podcasts as a great way to focus and gather insights

So it’s great to see a social media app that is completely based around voice.

Clubhouse describes itself as "a new type of social product based on voice that allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships, and meet interesting new people around the world." It’s a bit like being at a party and wandering up to chat with a group of people because you know them or overhear them saying something interesting.

Elon Musk, a Clubhouse fan, notes that “context switching is the mind-killer”. The idea is that when users are logged into Clubhouse, they can focus on only one topic at a time.


This might not be the right place for you, but we recommend finding voice-led inspiration that will help feed your curiosity and make you a better marketer


For interest: The launch strategy is also hot on behavioural economics, leveraging the power of scarcity by being invite only (just like Monzo did at the start). You can’t just download it from the app store and create an account. Much like a real-life country or yacht club, you have to be invited to join by an existing member…and for those interested in the financials, Twitter just tried to buy Clubhouse for $4bn... but they weren’t biting.
